Nature Photo Challenge #22 – Tree Bark

I guess I do have a few “tree bark” pictures to share though I doubt whether the first picture even can consider “bark”.

That’s a fossilized tree I discovered during one of my hike in a popular area that’s 15 minutes from my house. The hike, I believe, was back in the fall of 2020, and it was the first time I made it this far. It was also the first time I hiked this trail since 2017 before a short-cut trail was constructed some time during those years, which made the trail much easier and shorter to hike.

The second picture was one I took in front of my house in early 2021. I have 2 Japanese Maple trees on my property. I didn’t plant them. It was a gift left by the previous owner. Mom has been threatening to cut this tree down ever since we moved into this house in 2017. She fears the tree’s root will eventually damage the foundation of the house despite the many times I informed her that according to my research, Japanese Maple trees have small, shallow root systems and it’s not known to uproot a house’s foundation. Just like always, my words were not to be trusted and were contradicted.

Anyway, this picture may had been taken in 2021, I didn’t do post-processing in Lightroom until earlier this year. I think I just felt uninspired at the time on how to edit this photo.

This picture was taken years before I had my garden. If I am to show you my backyard today, you probably wouldn’t recognize it from this picture.

Shoot! I should’ve done that.

This fruitless Asian Pear tree is still here and it’s another tree mom has threatened to cut it down. She only likes fruit trees, apparently, and not trees that provide shade. She’s waiting for my permission to remove these trees, which I’d probably never give.

Anyway, I absolutely loved the texture of the tree trunk in this picture. I don’t think I can see such texture and pattern with my naked eyes. I will have really focus (closer to hypnotization) to see it. It’s why I love seeing the world through a camera lens sometimes, it can see things human eyes can’t.
