#WeekendCoffeeShare – A Friday Full of Fun

Greetings! Welcome to #WeekendCoffeeShare, thank you for meeting me this weekend. Our gracious host, Natalie, is currently away but I’m going to do a #WeekendCoffeeShare anyway, just because…

Yesterday was one of the funnest (is that a word?) day I’ve had in a long while. It was a day I’ve been looking forward to ever since it was announced. It’s the department’s team activity for the second quarter.

We went up into the mountain where it was 10-degree (Fahrenheit) cooler. There was a comfortable breeze and overall, it was much more comfortable than home where it was over 90-degrees. Before we headed to do the main activity, which were the mountain roller coaster and the alpine slide, we had to fuel up.

I got fish tacos with a side of fries. My orthodontist did a number on my braces on Tuesday and drained nearly all the strength from my teeth. Ugh, it happens every time but I think it’s the worst this time as the orthodontist seemed to want to speed up the process. So, soft foods it was.

I mentioned in last week’s post that I was stressed because August 18th marked one year since my car accident and I had this fear that history would repeat itself. On the 50-mile drive to Park City, I was hyper-focused. Thankfully, I still enjoyed the drive with music playing loud from my speakers. It’s been a long while since I’ve driven over 100 miles in a day. I felt like my car needed to be used for long distance as much as I needed to visit nature.

It was decided that we’d ride the mountain coaster first since the slide was temporarily down. For a moment, I felt joyous because we didn’t need to use the chair lift to get to the roller coaster. I’m not keen to sit in a chair sailing through the mountain, you see, because of my fear of heights and fear of falling. That joy was short-lived though because going on the roller coaster felt just as scary.

Turned out there was a brake in each car of the roller coaster. The dare-devils could let the brakes go and just go speeding down the mountain while scaredy cats (like me) could hold onto the brakes with his/her dear life and slow down (possibly causing a roller coaster traffic jam. It was the first time I’ve ridden a roller coaster where I wasn’t afraid thanks to the ability to control the speed.

Then, my fear came true. The Alpine Slide was back up and running, therefore, we must ride the chairlift up. Thankfully, my co-workers gladly shared a bench with me and they made sure to pull the handle bar down so I could hold on to it. As we ascended, I followed Hammad’s suggestion to look through my phone’s lens instead of mine. I began clicking away and felt my fears ease just ever so slightly. Thanks Hammad!

Is it me or the mountain skies look especially beautiful?

I couldn’t resist. I adore the mountain landscape and must have a picture. I can catch up to my co-workers afterwards.

The slide turned out to be similar to the roller coaster. We can slow down or speed up according to our preference. It was kind of like driving a bobsled and I thought I drove it well – not too fast and not too slow. Before long, I was approaching the end of the line. I got off, wanting to do it again. Perhaps another time.

I appreciate you stopping by. Until next we chat. 🙂

  1. Yay!
    You finally did it!
Glad to know that you enjoyed the rides and was able to control the speed yourself, which is good.
And you certainly captured some amazing mountain views from your trip 🙂
