Quiet as a mouse, he slipped into the seat across from me. Putting aside the coke I’ve been sipping, I leaned in. “Why, of all places, did we have to meet here, in this podunk joint?”
Giving the place a quick glance, he pulled a manila envelope from inside his trench coat and slid it across the table. “You must be very careful with this. Eyes are everywhere.”
I rolled eyes and sighed, pulling an envelope of 100-dollar bills, “Here,” I said and got up.
In the back office, he sat watching the monitor. Eyes are everywhere, indeed there are.

In my mind, the shark’s eyes were the cameras, which is a clever place to hide cameras, if you ask me.

I like how this opens…but don’t I want to know what the exchange was all about! Need to catch up with that guy in the office.

Thank you. I have a feeling the guy in the back office had something with whatever they were discussing, except neither of them knew it at the time.

I agree, a camera in the eye of the shark would be perfect.

It seems he was right to be careful. But sadly he wasn’t careful enough. Shady dealings going on for sure.

We certainly see cameras everywhere! I am often tempted to make a face or stick out my tongue when I spot them in stores 🙂
Does the watcher let them go on their way, as others track them on the streets? One wonders.
