Greetings! Thank you for joining me this Saturday, please come in with your cup of something.
Did this week feel long to you? It felt especially long to me.
Perhaps it was the bad weather? It was cold and rainy until Friday.
Maybe it’s the lack of garden chores? It is now about 3 weeks from first frost. It’s too late to plant anything other than flower bulbs for next spring. In the meantime, it’s just a waiting game on summer crops being killed off by frost and pulling them out to prepare the garden for winter.
I have already gotten some thicker frost blankets and one of the beds is already ready for winter. I plan to installing hoops at one of the new raised beds to prevent the soil from freezing so I can have an early start next year. I hope that works. The front garden is also a mess with flowers blooming at their peak at the moment – zinnias, cosmos, butterfly bushes, alyssum, and sedum. I don’t want to remove them just to plant the spring bulbs. I guess I’ll have to plant around them.
There’s also the possibility of the day-length getting shorter.
I’m just now getting over my cold and getting my voice back. My trash can is finally stopping filling up with tissue paper. Two whole weeks… it certainly felt like the longest cold ever.
I also got my annual flu shot this week. It’s some thing I dread each year but surprisingly, my arm was only super sore for one day and I had no reaction to the shot. None of the after-effects – fever, chills, fatigue, etc. I’m glad of that. I don’t mind the needle but losing a day of productivity, that’s a biggie for me.
Oh, I almost forgot, today is solar eclipse day!

Mom wanted to see if we could get a better viewing spot but neither of us was willing to get up early and battle traffic driving 250 miles southward to Capitol Reef National Park when we are within the 90% totality range at home. We may not be able to see the full “Ring of Fire” effect but I have no doubt it will be pretty close and either way, it’ll be cool.
I’ve had just about enough with sitting in traffic and constantly tapping my brakes driving 40-miles-per-hour when I could be cruising down the interstate at 75-miles-per-hour. Where did these people come from and what idiot is driving 60-miles-an-hour in the fast lane?
Anyway, I’ve been researching and I think I have the right filters for my camera to photograph an eclipse. So hopefully, it will work.
The last time I saw a solar eclipse was in 2017 and it happened during work hour. I was working at the hay factory at the time and everyone was taking turns viewing the eclipse with welding goggles. Though all I saw was a tiny sun, it was still cool.
#weekendcoffeeshare is hosted by Natalie of Natalie the Explorer, who is currently on break. I appreciate you stopping by. Until next we chat. 🙂

Did you see the eclipse?

Unfortunately there was heavy cloud cover but I got to see just seconds of it and it was pretty cool.
