What do you see # 209 – The Sunrise

Note: this is 100% fiction.

Maybe it’s the caffeine talking or maybe it’s real excitement, I have never done anything like this nor have I ever imagine I would drive half the night just to catch the sunrise at the most amazing location.

In fact, I almost didn’t make it.

As I was packing my car with camera equipment, my brain kept trying to talk me out of it. Stay home, where it’s nice and warm. Why do you want to see a sunrise anyway? The sun rises and sets everyday, why not go another day? Besides, it’s going to freezing cold.

It almost succeeded but, fortunately, my stubbornness took over. I have to go. Otherwise, who knows when I will ever get the chance.

Pulling the car into a wide turnout at the side of the lonely stretch of road, I glance at the time on the car’s dashboard – 45 minutes until sunrise, ample time to set up. Downing the remainder drops of coffee, I shut off the engine.

Here goes nothing, I should really stop talking negatively to myself.

As the camera snaps away on a remote timer, I watch the scene unravel before my eyes. Absolutely beautiful.

    1. I don’t get to see sunrises where I live since there’s a mountain blocking the horizon to the east. So I’m a sucker when there’s an opportunity to see a beautiful sunrise but in my opinion, sunrises and sunsets are equally beautiful.
