Friday Fictioneers: Bull Runners

Please Note: 100% fiction!

I can hear the boys rush into the house. Soccer practice must be over. It always amazes me to know how the house can still be in one piece after that ruckus. Honestly, it sounds like the running of the bulls each time.

“Boys, don’t forget to organize your shoes!” I shout from the kitchen. “I’m sure you don’t want to trip over your mother.”

Another round of bull running as the boys hurry back to the mudroom. I sigh and continue chopping vegetables for dinner. 8 boys! Why did I think that was a good idea at the time?

  1. After three boys, we decided to try one more time for a girl, and we won 🙂 I can’t imagine eight boys, all athletes. Maybe there are a couple who are quieter? Anyway, fun story and easy for me to see myself.

    1. I’m glad you got a girl. I have a neighbor who got her girl at baby #5 and decided to try one more. Unfortunately, #6 was a boy so she gave up. I think some get lucky with an even number of boys and girls and some just don’t.

  2. Haha, I can imagine this with just 2 boys. How she got through 8, I don’t know, but people do! Mind you, if she has 3 more, they’ll have a whole soccer team, so she can’t stop now!
Great story, very real. I like the “you don’t want to trip over your mother” line.
