Do you enjoy or get frustrated with the run up to the festive holidays?
I think a little bit of both. I quite enjoy the festivities but then I will get frustrated and annoyed at crowds and people behaving stupidly.
Do you like family gatherings on a regular basis?
We used to have a family gathering on every holiday until this year because mom got in a fight with her brother-in-law (BIL) and basically broke the family apart. Did I like the family gatherings? The anticipation was excited and was a nice break from the monotonous norm but the actual thing was usual about mom having her way while everyone tried to comply.
What is your favorite family memory?
I tried to find out if I’ve ever written about any sort of family memory because my head is coming up with nothing. If there was any sort of family memory, it would be in the photos. My memories of my dad had faded with age and I can’t recall if there was a happy moment between my mom and my step-father.
Do you prefer to be a host or visitor for a special occasions?
I’ve been on both sides and neither is pleasant. Maybe because I was young but it feels disorienting from having your own room and bed to sleeping on a mattress in a corner of someone else’s room. The same with hosting, I have to cook for guests like a traditional B&B and have to either give up my bathroom or share my bathroom with them.

I can remember hosting a house party for my parents 35th wedding anniversary. I’d been baking and freezing for weeks. There were over thirty people in my small semi, and it was a wonderful day. Many relatives had travelled a considerable distance, so slept over. Everyone had pillows and blankets, most a bed, even if shared, and I slept downstairs on the settee, the dogs keeping me company, but not on the furniture! I cooked breakfast for about a dozen people, and it was well worth the effort to do something special for my Mum and Dad. I’d baked a rich fruit cake which my boss iced for me and decorated with red carnations, my Mum’s favourite flowers and Dad always bought her two dozen on their anniversary. Happy memories.
Thanks for joining in this week.

That sound so nice to be together as a happy family. I can see why it’s a happy memory.

One of the best Yinglan. My parents were so surprised when everyone started to come out of my kitchen!
