#Bloganuary 2024 Prompt Day 10-12

Here are my answers to prompts #10-12.

Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a youth. What became of it?

I was never very sentimental as a child, unlike the way I am now. I wasn’t exactly the master of patience as a child. The only thing that could hold my attention was a jigsaw puzzle and I remember even from a young age, I was going for the 500-1000 pieces puzzles. I don’t know what happened to those as I wasn’t attached to any of the puzzles.

The thing I was most attached to might had been a baby blanket. Even now, I have this weird habit of holding a blanket to my face while I sleep. There’s something comforting about a soft and fuzzy baby blanket that tends to put me at ease. I’m the female version of Linus from Charlie Brown when it comes to my blankets.

I don’t know what happened to the blankets from my childhood, though. I believe someone threw them away as everyone had attempted to get me to quit one time or another but no success because these days, I am sleeping with a pink blanket with my name on it.

Come up with a crazy business idea.

Any business idea is a crazy idea until it earns a profit. When I was unemployed for 4 months in 2018, I came up with this crazy idea of start a virtual business. “Be an entrepreneur,” I dreamed, “be financially independent.”

One of my crazy yet practical business idea was to start a virtual bookkeeping business where I manage clients’ books through Quickbooks Online, which I was certify at the time. Mom shot it down at once when I told her just as she shot down my dream to become a writer. “Do you know how hard it is to start a business?” She said. “Get a real job.”

Although I’ve given up getting recertified in Quickbooks, I feel the dream is still there even though I know it’s hard, especially the first few years of business and there’s a lot of pressure. I think the real dream there is to become financially independent.

What snack would you eat right now?

I was never a “snack” person. I feel snacks interrupts the flow of the day. Once in a while, though, I like to toss a couple of malted chocolate balls into my mouth to satiate my craving for chocolate. I buy it bulk and keep a jar in the door of the refrigerator.

  1. I’m using an accountant to fill in my tax forms online because I really haven’t a clue. That’s not a crazy idea! There’s lots of old people who need help with stuff like that not to mention businesses. Keep the skills up to date. One day you are going to dance right into your own office with your name on it!

    1. I know it’s not a crazy idea but my mom sure thought it was, as crazy as I wanted to make a living as a writer.
I have been doing the family’s taxes ever since they came to the US despite not knowing much about taxes. My field of study is Financial accounting and it’s frustrated people think I know everything about taxes. Sorry, I only know how to do my own taxes.
Perhaps one day, I’ll become certified again but for now, I’ll just work my weekly 40 hours.

  2. I hope you do get to start your business one day, just the way I am beginning to do now.. I have worked a job since I was 16 years old through currently 28 years old. It’s only now that I have been able to gather the courage and space in life to start my business. It’s still a lot of work in progress but I am giving it my absolute best.

This post is beautifully written, appreciate the content here 🙂

For the virtual bookkeeping that you mentioned, that sounds like a decent idea in itself, all of the people I know of their accounting gets done online only with Quickbooks, along with that the AI integrations that have happened to quickbooks now are just wonderful. Might be a lot of use to you, if you ever choose to explore this path!
