Who is your oldest living relative (aunt, grandparent etc)?

The oldest living relative in my immediate family is my grandfather – mom’s dad. No one really know how old he is, just that he’s 80-something. Since he was born prior to 1949, his birth record was destroyed during the communist revolution. His birthday is on record but birth year is a mystery.

Mom also said he may had changed his birth year in order to start claiming his pension early. So he might be younger than anyone claims. Who knows? 🤷‍♀️

How often do you visit them or is distance a factor?

Distance is definitely a factor as he’s in China but to be honest, I’ve never really like him. He is the male-version of who my mom is now, which is much worse. The last time I saw him was in 2018 when I visited China to take care of some unfinished business. He, my aunt, and I spent night eating dinner in silence. The last time I talked to him was in 2021, he had no idea who I am and it wasn’t because he’s senile or anything. It’s simply because I’m a girl, thus not important.

Have any of your family lived to be 100?

Not that I know of but then I don’t really know my family. I only know my immediate family. My extended family is humongous, so who knows, maybe someone lived a century-long life.

Would you like to celebrate your 100th birthday?

This may sound pessimistic for such an optimistic individual but I don’t see myself living such a long life, never have. So if I live to 100, I would want it to be just another day. No celebration as anything out of the ordinary will most likely trigger a heart attack and then I would not be able to see day #2 of my 100th year on earth and that would be tragic.
