For the last 2 years, he has been honing his craft of writing – writing day and night, draft after draft balled-up and tossed on the floor all around him every time he felt the story was heading for the wrong direction. “I will get this perfected,” he vowed as he pictured himself becoming famous for his work.
A decade has come and passed, he’s no closer to finishing his work. Haggered and tired, he waded through shallow ball pit she’s created with his balled up pieces of paper. Being wealthy from a forever interest-cumulating inheritance, money was no longer his concern. As he sat down at his desk and picked up his pencil, he thought, hone your craft, I’ll hone my craft.
Written for Six Sentence Story. The prompt is “Craft”.

That’s a lasting image- saving all the balled up drafts in a ball pit!

Haha, that image popped into my head when I first thought of the word, craft.

damn! while I’m a fan of ‘the time-honored ways of doing things, i.e. making furniture with hand tools and cooking with simple, natural ingredients, it just dawned on me, for all the writing I’ve done since starting my blog none of it has been on paper!
somehow it seems that balling up a sheet of paper (of bad writing) would be so much more… satisfying than reaching over and hitting the Delete key

Thanks, I’ve done a few drafts on paper since I started my blog but I find it’s much slower than typing but now that you’ve mentioned it, it does sound more satisfying to ball up pieces of paper when the writing isn’t going my way. 😀

Who doesn’t love a happy ending…he hasn’t given up! I love it, Yinglan.
I agree about a keyboard being faster than writing but I’ll admit, I’ve got a few snippets of stories on paper lying around. Sometimes, you need the feel of a pen in your hand.

Thank you. I agree, someone’s, it’s good to write by hand rather than type with a keyboard.
