Sunday Poser #173 – On Aging

Do you like the age you are now?

How do you feel about your age? Do you feel you’re at a better place now than when you were younger?

How do I feel about my age? That is a great question because I think I’ve reached the age when the number doesn’t matter. I know this because I often forget how old I am. For example, I had to think a moment because answering to the “How old are you?” question.

Financially, of course, I am in a much better place than I was a decade ago in my early 20’s.

Emotionally, I think it’s still maturing everyday and I don’t feel this aspect will ever stop growing.

Physically, I feel I am in a much better place now because the garden keeps me busy.

Do I like the age I am at now?

Honestly, I’m not sure. I mean, I don’t feel much difference between now and when I was in my 20’s. I guess that’s a good thing. At the same time, is it a good thing to have to deal with the same pain at such an early age?

Other than a few wrinkles at the corners of my eyes and a few scars from surgeries, the usual pain is still there – occasionally headaches and backaches. The only thing I’ve noticed is that it’s taking my body longer to heal, perhaps it has something to do with the autoimmune disorder, no one knows and the doctors seemed hesitant to do further explorations because they still feel I’m “too young” to have such problems.

  1. Autoimmune disorders can take a toll on one’s health. Try to read up on what’s the best diet for you and follow that as diet is very important in managing this. Gardening is a wonderful way to stay healthy and connected to the roots. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Yinglan.
