It was my first time visiting this store. I’ve never had a reason to go until my sister and her friend, Kim, invited me along on their girls-day-out. Honestly, I was surprised mom agreed.
This store has everything – clothes, candles, perfume, bath-bombs…
OMG, what are they doing? My jaw dropped when I saw Kim pocketing a bottle of nail polish. My sister did the same. OMG! What should I do?
“Hey, li’l sis, ready to go?” I nodded and gulped.
Just as we crossed the threshold, however, it was me who was flagged. The nail polish were in my backpocket.

the travails of being taken advantage of by (i assume) an older sister and her friend. 🙂

You assume correctly.

Keeps us wondering, did she pocket the polish first or were her sister and friend super slick?

I would like to think the latter, even as a reader, just because I think the MC tend to be the protagonist in most stories.

I just read this and realized we were writing something similar. Oh well, I already posted it. I don’t read until after I post and I haven’t been around in a year and a half.

I read some of the posts before I write mine. Sometimes I draw inspirations from other’s stories but mostly, I write my own stuff.

I have done that on a few occasions if I really have no idea but it doesn’t always work.

I’ve never found it to work.

That’s sad. I like how you show her thoughts as she processes her sister’s actions and panics. Good ending, too. Poor kid.

Poor kid. Nice job starting off showing her excitement at being allowed to go to the store, then the shock of seeing her sister shoplifting and finally the betrayal, being blamed for shoplifting. Life is very cruel sometimes.

Yes, life is cruel sometimes. I was once a victim of such thing, so I know how it feels.

What a dirty trick.I hope she’ll think twice before going out shopping with them again. I’m going to assume that they figured she wouldn’t get in trouble because she was young.

Or they were trying to get her in trouble so they could ditch her. I don’t think they invited her along voluntarily.

I thought at first the characters were older but now I’m thinking young teens and the big sister trying to get the younger to carry the can!

I feel the sister was either trying to ditch the young girl or playing a prank on her.

Good progression of events and series of emotions. Poor girl! This is going to be a life-changing day for her, I assume.

Thank you. Yes, I have a feeling she’ll think twice before hanging with her sister and friend.
