Friday Fictioneers: That Old Tree

Please Note: 100% fiction!

“Aw, remember this?” Courtney said, holding up the photo of the old tree in our grandmother’s backyard. “Why is there a door there?”

I laughed and took the photo, “So the squirrels can have a proper home, because a proper home must have a door.” We said the last part in unison and laughed. “Good times.”

Courtney nodded in agreement, “What happened to that old tree?”

“To be honest, I’m not sure. I heard it got infested a few years ago and had to go.”

“Poor tree,” Courtney sighed.

“Poor tree. Poor squirrels. I hope they found a new home.”

  1. I hope they found a new home too! Funny when we find old photos, old memories, that trigger these types of conversations with loved ones…this is such a good slice of life.
