Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #299 – Hopeful

Happy Sunday! This week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge host – Patti – has decided to has picked yet another challenging topic – Hopeful.

If you’ve been following me long enough, you’d know that I’m an insanely optimistic person but even after 3 seasons of sowing seeds – whether in the ground or in a pot – I’m still filled with dread when I sow those seeds. The thing I dread is that the seed won’t germinate, which is a silly thing to dread, don’t you think? I mean, of all the things to dread in life…

I like to say I would like Mother Nature to take its course, that whether or not a seed wants to sprout is not up to me but up to fate. There’s nothing I can do if a seed won’t germinate. I’ve already done my part of sowing the seed.

When the seed does germinate, though, I can’t tell you how I would go from dread to hopeful in a mere second. A seed has germinated, there’s hope now.

I cannot tell you how sick I am of rain right now. I live in the second driest state in the US and it’s been raining half of the days each week. It’s not supposed to be this damp.

I learned the current water level of the Great Salt Lake is the highest in the last 7 years. Many are happy and hopeful that the state is no longer in a severe drought state and while I get it, it’s a good thing, I’ve been suffering, too, with what my rhumatologist is calling it “Fake arithitis.” He’s saying my arithitis pain is not really arithitis pain. It’s caused by the weather.

I saw a rainbow outside my home (not this one) over a week ago and for a moment, I felt hopeful because the presence of a rainbow meant that the storm has finally passed. That hope was short-lived though because a few days later, the temperature dropped and snow fell.

    1. Yes, after the snow managed to stunt and flatten many of my plants, spring suddenly returned with near 80-degrees temperatures. I just hope this kind of thing doesn’t happen again soon since I just put my tomato plants in the ground yesterday.

  1. Your pain is environmental. The noise factor and the disrespect is hurting you. I can’t say this with more love. Change your environment and you will heal. Try it for a month as Jordan Petersen would say. Sell shares, book into an air b and b and live in quiet. Try it. See if I am wrong. Forgive my taking your life so seriously. I wish you would. Much love.

  2. Hi Yinglan. Your photos are perfect for the challenge! They inspire hope. And in turn, I hope that you start to feel better. Hopefully the sun will come out and your aches will go away.

  3. Love your plant, Yinglan, so much hope in it. – And yes, too much rain is depressing. We are luckily having sun the whole week. Good for my garden. Hopefully your weather will stabilise soon!
