Sitting curled in the darken corner with one arm hugging her legs while the other outstretched, trembling with a kitchen knife, Susan sobbed.
Across the room, her father was on the floor, mouth gaped and eyes opened, looking at her. He was dead as a doornail, after she stabbed him 20 times, after he came home drunk and touched her inappropriately for the last time. That was enough.
She’d pushed him away. He stumbled backward, giving her enough time to run to the kitchen to pull a knife from the block. He laughed.
Sometimes, fear can lead to many things.

Oh what a tragedy.

Sounds like she’s the victim more than he could ever be. Hard to know how the cops will react to that though – there’s a lot of future in this one, for better or worse. Very vivid.

Thank you. Your comment is making me imagine all the different scenarios of how it will play out once the cops get involved. Most of them are not good.

A tragedy for all involved. There comes a time when we can stand just so much.

Not just fear, I would suppose anger as well. And despair.

I think it’s pretty open for personal interpretation. I suppose each reader will feel different things. I, personally, felt only fear with a hint of anger when reading this story.

I thought the first two lines especially were vividly descriptive. What a horrifying position to be in.

Thank you. I saw the picture prompt and that was the first thing that started playing in my head. Yes, it is a horrifying position to be in.
