Sitting at his cubicle, right hand gripping tight to the computer mouse, Harry subtly glanced up, trying to catch Teri’s eyes but she was looking at everyone else but him. Why did she had to leave, he wondered, she could’ve just talked to me, tell me how she felt, if she would’ve let me know she didn’t want a relationship right now, I could’ve put it on hold, not that I want to.
He was so deep in his thoughts that he didn’t see Teri’s roommate, Shelley, striding toward his cubicle, “What are you doing hiding your computer…” she paused, rolled her eyes, and let out a loud groan, “if you like her, just go talk to her, she’s harmless.”
“Wait, you know?”
“She is my roommate, Harry, and before you ask, her quitting had nothing to do with you, does that make you feel better?”
That did make Harry feel better, after several moments, pucking up his courage, he got up from his chair and headed in Teri’s direction.
