What is the most important advice you would give to a new blogger?

What are important tips regarding blogging that you found helpful/ useful in your blogging journey? What would you advise new bloggers?

Officially, I started blogging in February 2013, unofficially, I started in September 2013. The hardest part about blogging is definitely getting people to read and visit. I remember at the beginning, I read everything and followed whoever followed me. It was truly exhausting, particularly reading a bunch of dry, wordy posts that were not at all interesting to me.

Then I figured out to participate in challenges, which is important because it’s a good way to find others with similar interests. That’s when my blog began to grow, slowly because I don’t really comment on people’s posts. I’m awful at commenting just as I’m awful at asking questions and I refuse to just write one of those comments like “love it” or “Nice” on posts because I feel those don’t mean anything. If I comment on a post, it mean I have something I’d like to share, which is rare for me – whether in life or in the blogging universe.

So I guess engagements with other bloggers is a good tip but only if you’re not like me.

My third and final tip is to write what you know. If you make it a habit to write and post on a regular habit, others will surely find you. I would also suggest adding pictures to your posts as they tend to attract more attention than just words.
