He swallowed as his stomach let out another rumble, louder this time. “I know,” he sighed. He began to walk away but it was like his feet were locked in place.
“HUNGRY HUNGRY HUNGRY!” a voice in his brain shouted as loud as that neon sign.
“I can’t.” He’s maxed out on his eating-out budget for the month and it was only the 15th. If he indulged his desires, he would need to shift things around to make ends-meet and he hated shifting things around. “Let’s go,” he urged his starving body, “we have plenty of leftover chicken at home.”

Well, if he has food at home it’s a smart idea to eat it, not to let it go to waste. 🙂

Well, after a long day of work, some people would rather eat out than cook.

I know, I got the point of the story, underpayment and poverty are important issues to address.

I understand a maxed out budget. I can relate to that. And the temptation of the smell of freshly cooked hot food is hard to resist. Well told.

I agree, it’s very hard to resist the aroma of hot foods.

This story made me kind of sad. There are too many people who work too hard to not be able to afford some of the nicer things life has to offer. No one should have their food budget maxed out two weeks into the month.

Unfortunately, it’s a new reality for many people. I remember feeling the pinch of my wallet during my recent trip to the grocery store. Everything cost more these days and even those in middle class are cutting back.

At least he had something left over…a sad story but a reality of many.

I feel his pain! But as long as we still have food at home, things will be okay…

Some people tend to lean toward eating out than cooking at home, simply because of the smells of restaurant cooking.

The smell of rotisserie chickens is irresistible, isn’t it? I feel for this guy; sometimes I don’t want to eat leftovers either but with a little imagination they can be delicious. It’s a sin for people to go without food, especially when the dumpsters behind restaurants are overflowing with food that could have been saved and sent to soup kitchens.

Absolutely! I remember standing in the store the other day and just seeing the guy taking the rotisserie chickens out of oven made my mouth water.
