A Semi-true story…
My aunt came downstairs just as I was getting ready to crimp the pie dough. “What are you making now?”
“What do you think?” I snapped.
“Why is it that each time you cook, the kitchen ends up looking like a warzone?” Gosh, so judgy! I ignored her comment.
Baking is about precision, cleaning has its moments but not while making the dough. I believe in giving my work-in-progress my utmost attention to ensure it comes out delicious. Clean-up can wait until everything is in the oven baking away but right now, the dough needs my full and undivided attention.

“Sugar and spice and all things nice,” I’d reply to my aunt!

I doubt she’d understand.

Kind of touchy when being creative in the kitchen. I hope the pie tastes nice.

Well, I modeled the aunt after my real-life aunt, who currently lives in my house and she’s often asking idiotic questions and making stupid remarks, which annoys me very much.

Not even to mention that the kneeding, punching down, kneeding and possibly rolling has a cathartic nature to it. Keeps you from killing idiots at times. Love this story.

Oh, absolutely! Kneading dough is a good workout and anger management tool. 🙂

The dough needs her full and undivided attention otherwise it’ll feel it’s not kneeded.

And the moral to this story is – Stay out of another person’s kitchen. We all have our own priorities. Nicely told.

There’s a saying, ” if you’re not making a mess, you’re not cooking.”

The dough indeed needs one’s full and undivided attention.

If she wants a piece of delicious pie, she might want to keep her mouth closed until then! Or offer to help with cleanup. 🙂
