Six Sentence Story: Claw

“Help, Help!” She screamed into oblivion but all that was returned to her was her own echo. She was trapped inside her body, in the void between life and death, in the depth of her subconscious. She didn’t know how she got here but what she knew was her mind and spirit was propelling her forward, to fight her way back to the light, even if she had to claw her way out of the mess with her hands.

“I’ve found her,” cried the firefighter, seeing the girl’s arm sticking out from the car window, “help me get her out!”

Two paramedics ran over with a stretcher, one immediately checking the girl’s vitals, “her pulse is thready, start performing CPR,” she commanded the other paramedic.

Clawing aimlessly at the emptiness, she heard a stranger’s voice echoed in her head, “come on, you can do this,” yes, I can do this, she thought and repeated the phrase in her head over and over until she was finally bathed in light.
