Lazy Days

Daily writing prompt
Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?

I think we all need a “lazy day” from time to time, to recuperate and recharge. My so-called lazy days don’t usually last a day but a mere few hours. I think if I allowed my lazy days to last the whole day, I would feel highly unproductive.

Maybe I’m not yet at the point of my life where I can let a day go wasted without doing something but a list of chores (not a physical list but a mental one) are always waiting for me. There are some chores where if I don’t do it, I would have to endure a long lecture from my mom for making her do it. Just to be clear, no one is making her do anything, it’s her that likes to insert herself into the equation.

Speaking of lazy days, I don’t think I’ve had one since before my mom’s surgery. The weekends have been so busy since then with preparing the garden for a winter that’s been so far a tease, and my aunt who’s always itching to go out. Honestly, as much as I, too, would love to go out, I don’t know where to go. One of my favorite spots in the mountains is currently battling with a wildfire, while most of my other favorite spots are closed due to road construction.

If you ask whether I need a lazy day, I would say I probably do, just to get in a quick nap and perhaps a TV binge if there’s anything to binge these days. One thing at a time, I guess.
