You will probably not believe me if I told you this story, granted I can barely remember the details myself, after all, I was knocked out at the entrance, but here’s what I remember of how I – an out-of-work nearly homeless woman – ended up working for the most top-secret underground agency of America (oops, I guess it’s not so “top-secret” anymore) and please note that I like to run my sentences together, so don’t be shocked by the abundance of commas.
I arrived at this grayish-white building in the middle of a large empty parking lot, wondering if I was being set up, there was no sign, nothing telling me whether I was even in the right place, I thought about turning back and going home but, hey, a desperate woman must do what a desperate woman’s gotta do, right?
After a walk around, I found a door, it was painted black, I jiggled the knob, when it wouldn’t open, I knocked and yelled, “Hello, is there anyone there, I’m here for my 3 o’clock interview?”
In the next moment, as if an electric shock had traveled down from the top of the door to the knob, I heard a buzz before the door sprang open, “Ooo-kay.”
“Ma’am,” a tall, muscular man stood in his immaculate black suit and tie greeted me, what is this, I thought, suddenly feeling like I’m in a Man in Black movie, “if you will stand there, we will get your picture along with your fingerprints before we take you back for your interview.”
I stared at him, my fingerprints, I wanted to ask why but… yes, a desperate woman must do what a desperate woman’s gotta do, I stood against the black background and had my photo taken, placed my hand in the fingerprint scanner, and then I felt a jolt of electricity shot through me, that’s all I can remember until I woke up strapped to a chair and a white-haired man in a military uniform seated across from me, there’s a menacing look about him as he leaned forward and said, “Welcome to The Agency.”
Written for Six Sentence Story. The prompt is “Agency”.

That’s a very intriguing interview indeed. Good take on the prompt

It sounds like she was hired. I remember those Men in Black movies. Maybe abducted is more what happened. Considering she was homeless no one would be looking for her.

I think she was chosen for a reason.

Just don’t sign the contract! After all that, you may just be selling your soul to the devil!

😄😄😄 When one’s desperate enough, one just might sell their soul to whoever’s willing to save them.

“…felt a jolt of electricity…”
Yeah, that would be it for me, lol. Except I get the sense she didn’t have the option to say, “thanks guys, but no thanks!”

Well, when one’s chosen by this mysterious agency, there’s no going back.

Not every day you get tied up for an interview, is it.

Nope, and if that was me, I wouldn’t know whether I should be brave and move forward or horrified.
