Happy Saturday! Welcome to another edition of #weekendcoffeeshare, hosted by the lovely Natalie of Natalie the Explorer. Let’s grab a drink and have a chat!
Well, Thanksgiving week 2024 came and went. I had a 2-day workweek this week. I took Wednesday off for an early Thanksgiving break. I truly thought I would be more productive during my break like completing the puzzle I wanted to complete but I haven’t even crack open the box yet. I have a feeling I’m going to feel strange come Monday morning.
My mom hosted an impromptu family gathering at my house on Thanksgiving. In my mind, I thought when she told her siblings to come grab food on Thanksgiving, I honestly thought her siblings would bring containers and just pack up the food and go. So imagine my surprise when I saw everyone sitting around my kitchen counter.
I spent much of the morning pruning my 2 plum trees because why not? The trees are asleep until spring and with the sun shining, it was the perfect time. I believe I’m much more experienced now when it comes to tree pruning after watching a couple of tutorials on YouTube. I’m a watch-and-learn kind of person, not the learn-by-reading type. Maybe it’s why I was bad at school.
I kept the plum trees in an open-vase shape, opening up the middle to help with airflow. I think they look great, just hope they will perform just as I hope next year.
There was no turkey for Thanksgiving. There were air-fried spared ribs, store-bought roasted chicken drumsticks, scallops, shrimps, and tempura-battered shrimp. Nothing traditional at all and so much meat. The only greens on the table were the re-heated frozen peas cooked with the scallops.
I didn’t feel great afterwards because of the overwhelming amount of meat. My body doesn’t do well with meat. I ended up going out for a long walk, hoping to digest the meat, but that didn’t happen until the next day.
I have been going for long walks (2.5 miles) during my break this week. I feel it’s better than walking on the treadmill. Despite having music in my ears, I feel calmer when I’m outside.
I took photos along my walk like my neighbor’s Thanksgiving flag and this tree, hoping to gain some inspirations for my photography hobby. The last time I picked up my camera was in late September. I’ve been taking photos far and few with my phone. It isn’t that I’m no longer interested in taking pictures, it’s just I’m struggling with inspirations at the moment. Maybe it has to do with my emotions?
Anyway, I’ll look forward to next week when my aunt will be off to her 2-week trip to Japan. I don’t know how it will change around the house. The only thing I know is that I’ll have my bathroom back.
Well, that’s all I’m going to say, thank you for dropping by and I’ll be back next week.

I hope your plum trees do well. I tried growing them up here in the frozen North. They were hard to get to fruit. Then they caught a mold.

I hope so, too. One of my plum trees will turn 7 next year and the other will turn 4. I think most plum trees are hardy to zone 5. Unless you live somewhere that’s colder than that, it should work.

Yeah that is what I thought too, but the reading I have done said that getting them to fruit here in New England was sometimes hard.

I think it’s all about the variety selection.
