Continuing from these 6 sentences

“And that, you dirtbag,” the Police Sergeant slammed the robbery suspect against the back of the police cruiser as he clasped a pair of handcuffs around his wrists, “is for robbing a poor innocent old lady at knife point,” the rookie had already opened the door to the cruiser and the Police Sergeant shoved the thief into the backseat of the cruiser, “shame on you,” he said as he slammed the door before turning to the rookie, “And that is how you apprehend a suspect, capiche?”

“Yes sir,” the rookie responded before the two of them got back into their respective seats in the front of the cruiser, I’ll have to admit, the rookie thought as they headed back to the station, there’s a style to the sergeant’s arrest, I ought to be like that on my first arrest, when I make my first arrest.

“Book him,” the Police Sergeant ordered the desk duty officer and handed the thief over, the desk duty officer raised a brow as if wordlessly asking, what for, the Police Sergeant cleared his throat, “petty theft.”

Standing a few steps behind him was the rookie, making careful mental notes of the way the Police Sergeant’s mannerism and so-call style of doing things. I want to be like him one day, his mind immediately began re-playing the petty theft arrest, except he was the one clasping the handcuffs and the one leading the thief into the station.

“Rookie!” The Police Sergeant’s voice catapulted him back to reality, he was already ten paces ahead, face red whether from irritation that the rookie was behind or from something else, without saying a word, the rookie lowered his head and hurried to the Police Sergeant’s side.
