#SundayStills: Monthly Color Challenge – #White and Pale

I cannot believe we are already half-way through January 2025! I took this photo almost 11 months ago when I went to the Great Salt Lake to try to spot some bald eagles. I remember walking around that day and having a hard time composing photos. It was as if I couldn’t find one thing to take pictures of.

I ended up taking a lot of repeat shots that day, which I ended up having to either delete the photos or merge with another one to see if that would make it better. Some worked, some did not. This was not one of those merged shots. I call this a “pass-by” shot, where I was walking by and noticed the shot. I think it turned out pretty good.

The Bonneville Salt Flat is a must-visit when one is in Utah. Despite living in Utah, I feel I don’t go there often enough because it’s a place that’s ever-changing and you would never know what you’re going to find when you get there. Sometimes, you will find a lake before your eyes while other times, you will find this – whiteness as far as the eyes can see.

I can’t end this post without flowers. I love flowers even though they are a pain to grow. They are so slow to germinate and some of their growing conditions are so finicky. Yet, they often turn out so beautiful that I ultimately forgive them. These are some of the flowers I grew last year and hopefully grow again this year in other spots of the garden.

The first flower is Bachelor’s Button. The Bride, that’s the variety’s name. It was my first time growing this variety and of all the seeds I sowed, only one plant took off and that plant grew and flowered all the way up to early November.

The other ones are Petunia. I can’t tell the variety as I mixed up the seeds between varieties. These self-seeds everywhere. It’s an annoying trait yet wonderful for lazy gardeners, just need to remember to thin them.
