WeekendCoffeeShare – Asia Trip 2025 Day 1

Happy Saturday! A big thanks to Natalie of Natalie the Explorer for hosting WeekendCoffeeShare, this is a pre-scheduled post as I’m currently on my way to Taipei.

I don’t know how to describe the last two weeks other than it’s been one big marathon. I felt like I was able to finally take a breath and relax as I’m sitting at the boarding gate at the Salt Lake Airport waiting to board the first leg of flight to Seattle, where I’ll then transfer to another flight to Taipei. It hasn’t been the garden keeping me busy, it’s been work. Email after email kept flooding in after the new website was implemented, to the point where I wanted to scream, “No more email, please!”

I didn’t began to pack until the night before because honestly, I didn’t want to go. There’s so much to do at work and home. There were so much I wanted to plant but now have to wait until I return. W

What a disruption this trip has been and it hasn’t even begun.

This afternoon, after work, I went to the garage aka my grow room to make some final preparations for when I’m away. I pricked out the seeds of recently sprouted seeds and moved them into their home #1 – a 6-cell tray. I gained about 36 seedlings in the last few days. I was actually suprised by how fast the seeds sprouted. It must be spring.

After all the seedlings had been separated, it was time for final preparations. I returned to my room and stared at my open suitcase, feeling somewhat reluctant to close it. Was I sabortaging myself. Did I truly not want to go?

My mom has been saying the trip would be a good change of scenery, that after all this time, it will be good to get away. Perhaps she’s right for once.

Well, I guess I’m update when I reach Taipei.

  1. Enjoy your travels! I love Taiwan! It’s my Number-1 recommendation for new travelers to Asia… even over Japan. And I can read more of the kanji (not simplified). 😉

Taipei has a lot to see and do. I usually stay in the Daan area (north side of the park). Convenient, but not too central. But you can actually day-trip the entire west coast down to Kaohsiung by High Speed Rail. The Blue Line also connects with the rail line up the Keelung River to Shifen (waterfall), or out to Ruifang where you can get a bus or taxi up to Jiufen’s mountainside old street. (One of my favorite places in the north.)

I’ll be watching for your reports. Curious what you think. (ツ)v

    1. Thank you. I’m finding Taiwan a more enjoyable place to visit than Japan, mostly because I don’t have much of a language barrier here.
I’ve spent the last 5 days in Taiwan and will be heading to Kumamoto today.
