Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #342 – It’s a Wild Life

Happy Sunday! Egidio from Through Brazilian Eyes is playing my jam this week with the theme of “It’s a Wild Life” for Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #342.

It’s been a long while since I’ve gone out to photograph wild landscapes. This was in 2023 at a scenic viewpoint off of Highway 95 in Central Utah. If I have to find this again, I might need to drive the entire length of the highway starting in Hanksville.

My personal definition of a wild landscape is a place that cannot be easily be found, that not many people know of the spot. If many people knew about the spot, then it would become a point on the map and no longer wild (in my opinion).

To be honest, I wanted to see some wild landscapes and wild things on my recent trip to Asia but the most wild thing I saw over there was probably this bird. Everything felt like it’s been touched by humans, even the rock formations, and I don’t mean by tourists. Maybe I just need a car to see the wild.

I explored the scenic back-roads once last year. To me, that’s where some of the wildest landscapes are. Scenic back-roads are roads that are not up to the standards of a scenic byway. The roads are a little narrow and sometimes, the lanes are unmarked. One just need to be a little more careful maneuvering the curves and make sure to pull aside to let oncoming vehicles pass.

I was driving when I saw this and had to look for a place to park off road and walk back to this spot. The hike up was well worth it. Sometimes, these landscapes is only accessible by foot.

Finally, we cannot leave out the most important wild things in our daily lives. As much as we hate bugs and other critters, if you get close and personal with a camera lens, they are actually quite beautiful.
