There’s a red telephone booth in a London back-alley with a sign, “Take a plant, leave a plant.” It’s kinda like those teeny libraries in front of someone’s houses, “Take a book, leave a book,” except I haven’t a clue how it’ll work in this case.
Why would someone get rid of their plants?
My plants are my babies. There’s no way in the world I would ever part with them unless… unless something terrible were to happen to them and it’s beyond my saving.
Gasp!
Does this phone booth belong to a plant wizard for brown and black thumbs?

I will admit it is a very good idea- we have the book version outside our UU Fellowship, and I love being able to read books I do not have to keep. All my other reading is done via audio or Libby.

There are a couple of very cute book exchanges in my neighborhood. I hope to contribute when I’m done with my paperbacks.

That’s a wonderful idea! I don’t have too many indoor plants right now to trade. Thanks you for sharing this photo, Yinglan.

Thank you. I’m not allowed to keep houseplants because it would be one more thing my mom can blame me for her allergies, but I keep a couple of plants in containers on my stoop and love them. 🙂

I bought several green houseplants to keep the air clean. They have no pollen to cause allergy. 🙂

I agree, houseplants are great for cleaning air. Unfortunately, my mom doesn’t think so.

I was going to add the phrase, “make someone’s day,” on the sign but ran out of words. I think giving someone a plant will generally make that person happy.

I really liked the layers in your story and LOVE the idea of give a plant take a plant, like the books. I once passed a house that had free plant starters out front – with little signs to help yourself. I took a few and left them a gift of plant spikes. I also liked how your story let us feel the author’s love and protective side for their own plants.
Oh and I am not sure if we are to comment on grammar in these fictions posts, but just in case you want to know, front of someone’s houses should be house (right) and this – “to a plant wizards” should be wizard?

Thank you. I like the idea of bartering for plant starters. It’s a good way to get rid of any extra seedlings.
Ah, yes, thanks for noticing. I’ve fixed the sentence. I wrote this story by hand on my tablet, sometimes when my thoughts and hand don’t cooperate, extra letters will come out. 😀

That is a great idea! I have a spider plant that keeps growing and needing to be propagated and I don’t have room for all the “babies.:

I have a sedum that’s doing the same thing.

Maybe the person or people moved to a smaller place and no longer has room for them.
But in the meantime, who takes care of the plants in the phone booth? 🙄
