Happy Sunday! John is hosting the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge this week and he’s raised the question of “Go-to Places.”
I don’t think I can really say I go to a specific place when I’m feeling sad because usually, when I’m feeling down, a drive would be what I need, to nowhere in particular. I love to drive, especially when I’m alone with my music playlist on high volume, at least as loud as my ears and brain can bear.
These days, however, if I want to go out, my mom will usually make me drag my aunt along, which I hate because, then, I can’t just drive without a destination. So to ditch my aunt, I would opt for a walk in the neighborhood park with headphones than a drive.
I like to pop either a podcast, an audiobook, or music on my phone and just walk until my legs are saying “no more!” Some of the times, I would be so into whatever I was listening to that I felt like I would never stop walking. Eventually though, after maybe 2 miles, it would be time to go home.
If I can go somewhere on my own, I would opt for the Fernwood trail, which is about a 15-minute drive. I like that it’s not so hard of a hike and I can turn back at any point and it wouldn’t be too hard. I also love the view that it offers – a high-up view of the city I live in.
Finally, if I can go somewhere during the hottest months of the year, my go-to would be to find a scenic backway and just drive and enjoy the scenery. I’ve driven on a couple of scenic backways in the past and I think the scenery is much better than the scenic by-ways and there are also not as many cars on backways. I drove this road last summer and I would do it again this year if I have the chance.

Looks like beautiful country…lovely pictures.

I echo Christopher’s comment. You’ve photographed your beautiful area well.
I, too, like to drive to get away from it all… but then, that wouldn’t make much of a photo challenge… I can’t drive and take photos. Walking is better. >grin<

Thank you. Haha, I agree, I can’t drive and take photos either, although I do wish though. Wouldn’t that be nice.

I’m with you on the walking Yinglan. Sometimes we get quite far out and realize uh oh we have to make it all the way back! Wonderful choice for the week.

Wonderful post, Yinglan. I used to enjoy driving more than I do now, but I did share the same feeling then as you do… I think there’s too many bad drivers out there 😀
