“Even though this steel cage has now become a popular attraction for graffiti artists, for anyone who’s familiar with the town’s history would know of the horror this cage saw back in its heyday.”
Timmy gulped as his grandma led him toward the city park. “What kind of horror?”
His grandmother stopped walking and stooped down until she was eye-to-eye with Timmy. “Horrible things, Timmy, things no one should ever repeat.” Timmy gulped again, feeling like he had just watched a horror movie without his parent’s permission. His grandma stood up and grabbed his hand, “Let’s go to the playground.”

you did a great job letting us feel the bit of haunting emotions that Timmy likely felt as his grandmother shared about the rock cage….

Thank you. I’m glad I was able to convey such emotions in such few words. 🙂

i suppose it’s probably for the best that he doesn’t know about it, as it might upset him or cause unnecessary stress that we can avoid altogether for now.

I feel that it’s probably not the right time right now. Maybe later when he’s older.

Maybe it’s history that Timmy SHOULD know so it isn’t repeated.

I agree. Maybe the grandmother can recognize it when Timmy’s older.

I have a feeling that one day Timmy’s going to return to the steel cage. I just hope before he makes that decision he calls his grandma and tells her!

I think one day, Timmy will go asking around for the history of this thing and won’t stop until he gets the answer.
