Friday Fictioneers: The Reign of Chaos


The search-light can be seen from miles away.

“They’re not going to get me.” He chants under his breath as he continues to run uphill, periodically look down at the bundle in his arms, where his newborn daughter is sleeping like there’s nothing she’d rather be doing.

“Take her,” his wife ordered, pushing the baby into his arms, “go!” That was moments before she was killed for secretly having a child.

That’s what the world has come to after chaos takes over cities, states, and countries. One at a time.

“We’ll be all right.” He whispers to his baby girl.

  1. I remember a dystopian made-for-TV movie from the 1970s based on the theme that you could be executed for having a child without a permit due to overpopulation. Now we find that birthrates in the west are dropping due to reduction in men’s sperm count.
