Hello June 2025!

Why, what do you know? June’s here or I should say, the start of the dog days of summer.

Summer seems to start earlier and earlier each year. I checked the 10-day weather forecast last night and saw no relief in sight. No rain, just skyrocketing temperatures.

Despite the high UV rates, May was actually pretty pleasant, in my opinion. What made the month of May was the harvest and the flowers in the garden. The garden gave back this year, with loads of leafy greens and veggies, although I could’ve done without the aphids. I think I finally got it under control, though, with a neem oil soil drench and spraying castile soap on the leaves.

I also had a road trip in May. Short but I felt it was a good taste of the road trip to come this week. The complaints about the road trip would be the cold weather, the rain, and of course, having to be in the company of my mom and her sisters, who made sleep just nearly impossible.

What to look forward in June?

June is another month of opportunity in the garden. Lots of things to plant and harvest. I’m looking forward to hopefully, the potato harvest. I bought special potato seeds that were probably twice as expensive than regular potato seeds. It’s called Harvest Moon Potatoes and supposed to have dark red skin and yellow flesh. Some of the plants have already started to die back, so I’m hoping to have harvest soon.

First though, I have a road trip in 5 days as of this posting. I’m heading for southeast Utah toward the four corner area and will be exploring New Mexico. I will be blogging from the road.

What else?

All I can say is there will be a lot more garden updates in June.
