Six Sentence Story: Pitch

He – a fresh graduate with a degree in theater – has been running around town, trying to pitch his first movie but so far, he’s 0 for 5. He wonders, “Why don’t anybody want to hear my idea?”

Maybe it’s because your idea sucks, the voice in his head practically shouts at him, you’re trying to pitch a story about a man hiding behind a bunch of balloons, don’t you think that’s a little pathetic for a storyline?

He sighs, maybe you’re right, maybe pitching a story about a man hiding behind a bunch of balloons is a little too pathetic for a storyline but, wait, wasn’t there a character in a 90’s sitcom that often conceals half of his face behind something? He shakes his head, starting to feel like maybe his inner voice is right, maybe this storyline has been done before, thus the reason he’s being rejected.

Then he shook his head, “I’m not giving up, someone out there ought to see my story is gold.”

Written for Six Sentence Story. The prompt is “Pitch”.

  1. It could be a good movie about the metaphor of someone being right there in life, looked at but never really seen. It probably wouldn’t be a box office hit but could be critically acclaimed if done right. Anyway, clever story, you made the idea work so there is that!
