“Hi Honey, how’re you feeling?” Julie’s mom greeted her.
“What…happened?” Julie felt numb all over, “Why can’t I feel…anything?” Panic began to flood in as she attempted with all her might to push herself up into a sitting position before exhaustion overpowered her, causing her to slump back into a half-sleeping, half-sitting position.
“You…fell, honey.” Her mom said slowly, as though trying to conceal something.
“Mom?” That’s when she noticed the unicorn in the corner. You’re beautiful, it read. “What does it mean? ‘You’re beautiful’? What happened to me?”
Her mother burst in tears, “I’m sorry, honey. I’m so sorry.”

That’s horrifying.

This is so tragic – and felt so real.
It also reminded me of new story I read yesterday – where a young man was a car crash that burned 80% of his body and he just got the first successful transplant (and maybe there will be hope for the daughter in this story)

I just hope her mother will tell her the truth but from the mother’s tone, the truth felt painful to tell.

This has got to be one of the top three nightmares to live through.
