The conclusion to last week’s tale and the last ever Unicorn Challenge 😭…
7 months later…
Sadie stopped in her tracks as she felt her phone buzz in her coat pocket. “Hello?”
“Sadie, what happened? I went on a week-long business trip and came back to find a Permanently Closed sign on the gallery’s door. Don’t you like the new place?” Sadie could feel Jean’s frown from the phone.
“What? No, I love the new place, Jean.” Sadie tried to sound truthful.
The truth was she hated the gallery. Sure, it was rent-free and artfully decorated but it was so lacking in inspiration that she found herself sitting in the back studio day after day staring at a blank canvas. Jean did everything for her but he was trying too hard to please her when she didn’t want to be pleased by anyone, especially by someone she barely knew. After 6 months of attempting to settle in, she decided to give up and go visit a friend in the country. Perhaps, some country air will lend some inspiration, she thought.
“Come on, Sadie, I can feel you lying over the phone.”
Inhaling and exhaling a sharp breath, Sadie decided to tell Jean the truth. “I’m sorry, Jean. The gallery and studio is nice and all but I just can’t use it. There’s not a lick of inspiration in there. I guess I just need to find a place that’s my own, you know, a place that has my own signature.”
There was a long pause on the other end of the line before Jean said, “I understand. Goodbye Sadie.”

Another ending – sometimes they need to come in order for creativity to flourish.
