Shutting her eyes, Helen tried to imagine she was alone, just me and the music, she thought as the lyrics flowed out of her mouth. Wow, I sound great, she thought as she sang her heart out, oh, don’t stop, please, sultry thoughts began to invade her brain.

Meanwhile, her co-workers watched with raised eyebrows as Helen stood rigidly there in front of the screen like a statue while each lyric that were coming from her lips sounded flat, like she was reading the words in a monotone. One of the co-workers asked in a whisper, “what do you think she’s doing,” as another commented, “do you think she knows?”

Okay, here’s comes the high note, Helen thought and raised a hand in the air as she hit that high note, “you-ooh-ooh….” before holding there for a moment. Behind her, her co-workers cheered and clapped, “Yay, Helen,” one said while another reached for the microphone, “my turn,” as Helen sat down next to her co-worker, heart still pounding, “Whew, that was… something.”
