Sunday Poser #247 – Adjusting to Changes

How well you adjust to change?

How do you react to a change? Do you accept it easily or find it hard to adapt to different circumstances?

I’m pretty flexible when it comes to adapting to changes. I believe it has something to do with how I grew up. I was constantly told as a child that I move at too slow of a pace for life, that if I am to succeed in life, I must move at a faster pace. Well, I’m moving fast now, maybe too fast. At work, I can learn by watching and doing. At home, in the garden, I learn by conducting experiments, if it doesn’t work, it will never be done again.

When it comes to changes, I can either accept it quickly and easily or I can find some other way to work around the change. It truly depends on the change. There are some changes that would take me a while to get used to. I can’t name one off the top of my head because eventually, the change will get forgotten and will be accepted as the new normal.

Do I like changes?

I don’t think there’s a sane person in this world that would say he/she like changes. Sure, some changes break the monotony of life while some changes may be life-altering.

I remember during the two times when I was planning to move out, at least 20 miles away from my mom, I was would spend the nights processing the changes that would take place while trying to solve all the problems I might encounter. At times, I felt like I was crazy for taking on such a monumental change in my life. How do people do this? Without support from someone such as a parent? I suppose those people just go for it, rip off the bandaid, and adapt to the sudden changes in their lives. Alas, such change did not happen to me.
