“You are such an optimist, you know that?” Lorraine said as she watched her friend, Emily, pile supplies into her boat. In Lorraine’s mind, Emily’s boat was more like a dingy than a boat. “To believe you can sail around the world in this tiny thing, you’d be lucky if the tides don’t return you here in a few days.”
As Lorraine talked, Emily stayed mostly silent, organizing her supplies into neat little piles in her boat. Maybe Lorraine is right, Emily thought, maybe I am an optimist but, you know what, this world needs more optimists. There are too many pessimist, believing in all the awful stuff and not enough in the good stuff. “It’s belief,” she finally spoke aloud and gazed up at her friend’s raised eyebrow, “yes, I’m optimist but it’s also belief that I have – the belief I will succeed on this journey.”

This is so inspiring.
