#FFFC #338 – Textbook Reading

Amy’s eyes were drooping as she struggled to get through the 50 pages of textbook she must read by the next day. How could he do this? She thought as she flipped through the pages she had left to read. Doesn’t he know we have other classes and other homework?

She folded her arms as she tried to focus on the words but reading each word felt like a struggle. Are the letters melding together? Why are the words so blurry? Before another thought could enter her mind, her head fell forward onto the pages of the textbook and she fell into a slumber.

When she opened her eyes again, she found herself surrounded by wooden panels. Where am I? She tried to get up and walk around but couldn’t, she was trapped beneath a giant book. What the…

She tried to read the title but the letters were incredibly blurry and out of focus. Within a minute, she gave up trying to focus her eyes as exhaustion once again took over. Maybe I should just try to rest, she thought as she lay back down and within seconds, she closed her eyes again and was asleep.

A chime sounded beside her, making her bolt upright. It was her phone’s alarm clock. Oh no! It’s the next day already? She hadn’t read a single page the previous night. In a panic, she jammed the textbook into her backpack along with the pile of unfinished worksheets and raced to school.
