Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #369 – Dreamy

Happy Sunday! Ann-Christine from Leya is the lovely hostess for this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge. The theme she has picked is Dreamy, which made me do a deep dive into my archive, and I hope I don’t disappoint.

My first photo is one I took during my recent excursion to search for autumn colors. This photo was taken when I decided to illegally park on the side of the road for a few moments to marvel at the views. This section of the road was breathtakingly beautiful, even if autumn colors had not yet reach this part.

I don’t know about you but I love aspen trees. I think there’s a dream-like quality to them, especially when I decide to put a touch of softness when I was editing the photo in Lightroom. I feel like the white tree trunks add a magical quality to the photos.

I wouldn’t mind standing there all day with the sun peaking through the canopy.

For those who’s been to Japan is probably familiar with this place – Arashiyama. When I was there over 2 years ago, people was everywhere and the only way for me to get a satisfying photo was either shoot into the distance or shoot upward. I was quite surprised when I found this photo in my photo archive. I don’t know how I got this photo or the edits I’ve done on the photo but it’s one of those rare photos I absolutely love.

I love the softness I’ve put on the photo and the canopy at the top almost makes you feel like you’re trapped beneath something, doesn’t it? If this is a dream, I wouldn’t be able to tell whether this is a good dream or a bad dream. I guess it’ll have to depend on what happens in the dream.

Finally, this photo was labeled as Cabbage flower in my archive. Having been a gardener for the last 5 years and seen what the flower of a brassica looks like, I can now confidently say, this is not a cabbage flower. It’s most likely some kind of weeds growing between the cabbages. However, I do love what I’ve done to the photo but 2025 me will probably have more experience editing this photo than 2017 me and will probably take the softness just a touch farther.

  1. These are all dreamy and of lovely dreams methinks! The bamboo path I walked last year, and had the same difficulties with all the people – but you made a perfectly wonderful photo there! A brilliant solution. The last one is almost in monochrome – and that makes it very dreamy. The colour is magical.
