
Five years ago, Amber hired a landscape company to build a retaining wall in her backyard. Of all the things she could’ve chosen, she had chosen these massive granite boulders. “Are you sure, honey?” Her husband asked, looking at the price tag.
“Trust me, honey, it’ll look very nice.” Amber smiled.
Now, five years later, the boulders chipped and muddy in a pile in the corner of Amber’s yard. A year after the boulders were installed, she started to remove them. “What the hell was I thinking?” She kept asking herself, day after day as she chipped away the stones.

This is usually the point, at least in my 40+ years of marital experience, where the husband, who didn’t want the thing in the first place, has to go in and take it apart. Yikes.

I’m doing the same thing right now. 4 years ago, my mom made me put in rocks in my front yard, over the last few years, I’ve been slowly taking the rocks away.
