Teri couldn’t keep up with the phone as it rang off the hook from the moment she clocked in to the moment after she was supposed to go home. What’s worst was Teri must do a call-back for every call she missed and would end up getting stuck in a game of phone tag where both sides keeps missing each other’s calls.
One week after she began working her new job, she knocked on the door to her supervisor Greg’s office, “Excuse me, Greg,” she said nervously, “May I come in?”
“Yes, yes, Teri, do come in,” Greg replied, waving at Teri to enter. Teri shut the door and sat down in the chair opposite Greg, “What’s up?”
Teri laughed nervously, “Um,” she tried to think of the best way to phrase her question before mentally aborting politeness and blurted, “is the phone always this crazy, it’s just I feel like I’m constantly locked in these phone tags with customers, does anyone back there answer the phones?”
Written for Six Sentence Story. The prompt is “Tag”.

I suspect once Teri gets used to her job it will go smoothly.

I am just gonna guess her told her she was doing a fantastic job- no one has ever been as on top of the phone lines as she is- and he totally disregarded her cry for help.
