Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #377 – Holiday Fun

Happy Sunday! Ann-Christine is the host for this week’s Lens-Artists Photo Challenge and in lieu of the holidays, it appears we will be reflecting upon some fun memories of the holidays.

It is weird because since it was so warm here in November and with so much work to be done in the garden, it almost made me forget that Christmas and pretty soon, the new year is upon us. This year has flown by and part of me wish it would stay for a little longer while another part of me is looking forward to the new year because that’s when I can start gardening again.

When it comes to the end-of-the-year holidays, I feel it’s the time for reflect on the year – what’s good and what’s bad but that doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be any fun associated with it.

My favorite thing to do during the holiday is to see the holiday lights. My aunt recently accompanied me to Luminaria – a large-scale Christmas light show. The lights make the nights a little brighter and I love seeing the intricacy of the lights. Seeing this made me laugh.

Temple Square was my favorite spot to see Christmas lights before Luminaria. I stopped going to Temple Square when it began its renovation, obstructing the view of the temple with scaffolding. It isn’t that I don’t like Luminaria, it’s just Luminaria is about twice as far compared to Temple Square and sometimes, indulging in the festivities of Christmas lights is just like indulging ourselves with a pint of ice cream in our freezer – close and accessible.

Finally, what’s more fun than spending Christmas at the Grand Canyon, of all places? That’s exactly what I did 2 years ago. I spent Christmas day at the Grand Canyon and though I arrived just after 9 AM, the sun hadn’t risen high enough in the sky to make the colors of the canyons look washed out. I was so glad for that because that was my first trip to the Grand Canyon and I want to make sure I capture the canyon in the best light, even though no camera will ever really do these canyons any justice.

    1. The snow in my area has gone AWOL this year. It’s been unusally warm and snow-less this year. In years past, I did wish I was somewhere where there was no snow but, for some reason, I wish for a white Christmas this year.

  1. Wow! What a beautiful gallery! The Grand Canyon shot is amazing.

On another note, I think I know why your lens-artists posts are not showing up on my Reader. You are using the hashtag “lens-artists photo challenge” instead of “lens-artists” only. I’ll add the tag you use so I don’t miss your future posts.

    1. Thank you.
Ah I see. I didn’t know that it makes a difference because I’ve found, with my reader, as long as it has the words “lens-artists”, it doesn’t matter whether the “photo challenge” is at the end or not, the posts will show up.
