The Flower Hour #20: Daffodils

The flower bulbs are beginning to bloom now. In my garden, it’s usually the crocuses that lead the pack, followed by daffodils, then hyacinth and tulips.

This year, something feels off in the front garden. Usually, the lovage would’ve showed itself by now but so far, nothing. I remember it was struggling last year but it’s supposed to be this vigorous perennial, have I accidentally killed it?

Most of the garden is now fully awake. The apple tree has begun budding, the perennials are starting to grow again, the tree I’m seeing the biggest difference is a plum tree in the corner of the backyard, that tree looks like it’s about to bloom. Hopefully the freak event doesn’t kill it or injure its buds.

I was in the garden yesterday and saw my favorite type of crocus blooming. I have two types of crocuses – the kind that looks like a bearded iris and one with light purple petals and white center. It was quite chilly outside that I needed to ran back indoors. I’ll take a picture of them soon.
