Heart light as a feather, Teri practically floated as she exited the elevator and rounded the corner to her office. However, it was like gravity suddenly took control and pressed her heart back down to the ground when she saw Sasha standing near her desk, talking to her supervisor, Greg, with a cardboard box full of his belongings in his arms. Teri watched as Greg held out his hand and Sasha shook it and said, “Thank you sir, I will treasure my time with the company always.”
At those words, Teri became alert, “Wait, you’re leaving us?”
It was Greg who spoke, “I’m afraid so, Teri, Sasha has accepted an offer from a company in France a few weeks back.”
She turned to Sasha, “all this time, you didn’t bother to tell me?”
Written for Six Sentence Story. The prompt is “Float”.

and that’s why I didn’t call it ‘romance’ after one date. I sure hope Teri manages to navigate this moment with her dignity intact!
