Teri’s roommate, Shelley, was waiting for her when Teri stepped out of the office elevator 20 minutes later, “Oh my gosh, are you okay,” Shelley threw her arms around Teri in a tight hug, “you had me worried sick,” Shelley babbled on, “you could’ve let me know if you needed help; I would’ve brought Harry.”
“The ginger-haired IT technician,” Teri stated, “what can he do, hit Adrian with a keyboard?”
Shelley let go Teri and pulled her to the nearest place to sit – a long black leather chair placed along the corridor – “So, tell me everything.”
Teri shrugged, “Not much to tell, his name is Adrian, he’s an actor, and he basically faked his way into the company and Greg fired him when he found out.”
“Wow, he must be pretty good if he held out for that long,” Shelley sat back, leaning her head against the wall, “I did not see that coming,” she said slowly, “what a plot twist,” she sat up and turned to Teri abruptly, “you’re not planning on seeing him again, are you?”
“I don’t know if you noticed, Shelley, he’s me,” Teri began listing off all the similarities with her fingers, “he’s an actor who was out of work, he’s desperate for work to pay rent, and he has a roommate, does he remind you of anyone, and trust me, the last person on this earth I want to date is me.”
Written for Six Sentence Story. The prompt is “Help”.

Nice revelation in the last paragraph about Adrian. He is a lot like Teri and “the last person on this earth I want to date is me”.

I think this will be a nice setup for future stories.

Well we, IT people can do a lot more than hit someone with a keyboard…
and I wonder if he really did act every thing between them because if that’s the case I will personally bring out my weapons.
i have a spare mouse lying around somewhere or a old heavy harddrive

😆😆😆 I’m wondering the same thing because if he’s that good of an actor, he can also be a pathelogical liar. I’ll have to let my brain stew over this.

I don’t know Yinglan – maybe Terri would hit it off with Adrian, they have a lot in common.
Good series.

Ha! She seems to have it figured out, as she recounts why she wouldn’t want to see him again. Then again, it makes me think we haven’t seen the last of that character.

Oh, I think he’ll be back like a bad case of acne. 😆

total ‘Cue the Popcorn’ serial Six (in the making)
… she’s probably right, contrast is important to the appreciation (of many things)

😄I hope most people out there feel the same way but who knows, there might be someone out there who doesn’t mind dating someone who’s just like them.

I’ll bet there are (people interested in reading your serial story). In my experience there is something extra exciting in writing a serial story in the context of a bloghop. Every week something will happen. (The epitome of seat-of-the-pants fiction writing). And…and!! from what I read in the Comments you have the most valuable asset…and character that the Readers are (already!) liking and engaging with. The hard(est) part, imo, is trusting our characters and letting them do whatever it is they want. Afterall, for some us (with such characters) we are but stenographers/biographers)

Thank you. Not to sound devious but I love keeping my readers hooked, although as a reader, I hate it when this happens but that’s when the story makes you guess, lets you imagine what will happen next. Trust me, I’m in the same boat with you and all my readers right now with regards to this story. I am truly making it up as I go as I am internally battling out between the multiple ways the plot can go and end, and of course, I cannot let my characters do what they want. I’m in control here. 😄

She’d be wise to stay away, but since when has that made a difference?
