It seems like the color pink is all I’ve been seeing lately. If you’ve been keeping up with my Flower Hour posts, two weeks ago, I posted a photo of a pastel pink peony, and last week, I posted pink rhododendron. See? Pink pink pink!
Pink is one of my least favorite colors, although I don’t mind the lighter version of the color. It’s the darker pinks that makes me cringe. When I shop for flower seeds, I often shop for oranges, purples, and whites, never pink unless it appeals to me. Coincidentally, my garden is going through the “pink” phase right now, as it usually does around this time of the year.
This year, I have pink peonies, snapdragons, roses, and penstemons blooming, which reminds me, I should take pictures of the penstemon. Last night, as I looked over each of the beds in the garden, I realized that a majority of the plants were started from seeds. Obviously, the roses and peonies were purchased as a plant but the snapdragons were started from seed 2 years ago and it’s survived 2 winters so far, not bad.
The roses have not been behaving normally this year. After getting burned twice by frost, it did not put on a big show as it had in the previous years. Instead, the flowers are just here and there.

Yinglan, I love your pink flowers!
