Sunday Poser #300 – Age and Friendship

Does age difference matter in friendship?

What are your views on friendships? Does a friend need to be your age to understand you better, or can you make friends with people older or younger than you?

Personally, I quite would like to have a close friend who’s around my age. That way, we can talk about familiar topics like TV shows, movies, and possibly school life. Nonetheless, age difference in friendship doesn’t really matter to me, as long as you don’t judge me and we have similarities.

My friendship with my co-workers is a prime example. Some of my co-workers are my mom’s age, yet we get along fine and I often have fun with them. The friends I made here in the blogging community are also great examples. I have no doubt that the bloggers I’m in frequent communication with are not the same age as me, probably not even close, yet because we have things to say as we share certain similarities between our real-life selves and online personas.

So no, age doesn’t matter when it comes to start or maintain a friendship with me. As long as you treat me with respect and we have things to talk about, I will treat you with respect and be your friend.
