Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #415 – Move Your Body

This week, Anne from Slow Shutter Speed is the host of Lens-artists challenge #415 and the topic is Move Your Body.

I’m in the same boat with Anne, I do not prefer to change lenses in the field. I have anxiety and am incredibly clumsy. Anything can happen.

During my trip to China, as much as I loved to have taken more pictures with my DSLR, I ended up taking 95% of the pictures with my phone. My Nikon D3500 was simply too clunky and with the high humidity, causing the strap to cling to my neck, I much prefer to go about my day-to-day with a lighter load.

The downside with the phone, however, is the fixed zoom. Even if I have 3 lenses on my phone, I prefer to use the one with the highest resolution because that way, I will still have a high resolution when I crop. This photo, however, I had to use a lower resolution lens so I could capture the whole building. I took this picture near the foot of the building, lowering the camera to near ground level, not the easiest position for me as I have problems with bending my legs. This was taken at a 0.6x zoom instead of my normal 1x zoom. I think it turned out okay.

With this picture, I had to try several times to center myself – take a step to the left and one to the right before squatting down to get the picture. I joked and called this one “Stairway to Heaven” because from this perspective, it looks like a path leading towards the sky but really, it’s an ancient bridge. The sky was also so overexposed (not on purpose) that it looked like one was walking toward a blinding white light.

Finally, this required moving several steps. I actually took the picture of the cat before discovering the sign behind me. I never understood the purpose of these signs. I saw them everywhere during my trip in China. I think they are supposed to be romantic. I tried to get as many of these signs as I could but this one did take a little moving around to frame the picture.
