After finally reaching the exit of the Presidential Palace, we were ravenous. Thankfully, we never had to search far for food in China as people are willing to set up food stall where there’s room, no matter how small. The only thing that mattered would be your choice of cuisine. However, in Nanjing, there’s, unfortunately, not much diversity in the choice of cuisine. You can walk down any street in Nanjing and it’ll be possible you will only see shops selling its regional cuisine of Duck Blood Soup with Vermicelli or Crab Soup dumplings.
It was exactly what happened that day. Of course, we could’ve went a little farther for better options but none of us had the strength to walk. So Duck Blood Soup with Vermicelli and Crab Soup Dumplings it was.
I’ve never really liked soup dumplings because the only kind I’ve ever had had green onions in them and I don’t like anything in the allium family. However, these didn’t have green onions in them. There was just a little bit of minced meat and crab roe. It was delicious.
After lunch, we decided to visit another museum – Museum of the Six Dynasties – simply because of the weather. It was humid and muggy. The moment we stepped outdoor, our clothes would begin to stick to our bodies while every time I stepped inside, sweat would flow down my face like a waterfall. I suggested we returned to the hotel and rest a little while as the next day was travel day from Nanjing to Suzhou but my mom scoffed at the idea. So, another museum, another go at the X-ray machine, and another passport check it was.
The Museum of Six Dynasties is a museum dedicated to the six of China’s earliest dynasties, as listed in the picture below. Though most of the museum has been translated, there were still quite a bit left untranslated like this illustration.

This museum was not as big as some of the ones we visited or would visit in museum. The available exhibits mostly focused on art such as sculpture carving and calligraphy. I skipped the history portion since it wasn’t translated into English. Though I can’t say I know how to appreciate art or calligraphy, I found some of the pieces to be… cute?
After the museum, my mom finally agreed that we would return to the hotel to rest our legs after walking all day. The trip took about 20 minutes but every step I took made my legs sore and sweat dripped down my face. I hated the stickiness that I felt in my skin. It was like I’ve washed my body in syrup. The only motivation that kept me going was the AC in the hotel room.
